Description:

The course targets mainly doctoral students and advanced, master's students with a interest in research and health economics. The course consists of an introductory lesson and weekly lectures, where the guest lecturer will present his specific field of research. The application of econometrical methods and models in the context of health economics is one major aspect of the lectures. Participants elaborate the context in term papers and excercises.

The specific content depends on the current guest professor, see the homepage of the chair of Health Economics. In SoSe23 Prof. Dr. Makym Obrizan from the Kyiv School of Economics.

If you interested in the course, please contact Sergej Bechtoldt (sergej.bechtoldt (at) uni-due.de).

For students: The module consists of a graded term paper (Seminararbeit) and presentations.

Learning Targets:

The aims of the module are twofold. The first aim is to introduce students to applications of (longitudinal) data analysis using micro-econometric techniques. The second aim is to help students understand the links between the economic theory and current empirical research covering a number of topics in health and labour economics, such as unemployment persistence, socio-economic inequalities in health and health care, marriage market, and the economics of wellbeing.
