Curriculum Vitae:

Nisha Vernekar is currently a doctoral researcher under the supervision of Professor Martin Karlsson at the University of Duisburg-Essen.

She holds a Master’s degree in Development Economics from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Symbiosis International University, India.

Nisha has previously led numerous academic and policy projects with a focus on education, early childhood, children with disabilities, and gender at the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy in New Delhi. Prior to this, she served as a project coordinator and researcher at the Institute for Fiscal Studies in London and IIM Ahmedabad, India. In these roles, she conducted research using diverse methods, including primary research (including managing large-scale field experiments), contributed to action research initiatives, and employed mixed methods, among others.

Fields of Research:

Development economics, labour economics, gender and education.
